2020 174 Syrah
174 Clone Syrah, grown in the ironstone gravels of the Swinney vineyards in Frankland River. The fruit was picked and crushed to small open top fermenters for wild fermentation. The ferment was plunged twice daily for the first 8 days, then left to soak on skins for a total of 21 days. The Syrah was then basket pressed to French oak puncheons (40% new).
The wine is savoury and perfumed with aromas of sour cherry, salted plum, charcuterie and ferrous/earthy characters. The palate is soft and supple, giving a silky mouthfeel with gravelly tannin.
